Imperial War Museum for the North, Manchester

The Imperial War Museum is conceived as a landscape that rises from the edges of the site, juxtaposed with an abstracted “dry dock and wharf building’ adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal. The ensemble reflects the immense power of man and technology that resulted in the unprecedented wars of the 20th Century. The museum provides 8000 sq.m of space for permanent and changing exhibitions, and educational, retail and café facilities.
