Thornton Heath
Roundabout
Pond
The new ‘pond’ is created of polished black granite. A petrfified giant carp is etched into the surface, to define a pedestrian route across the roundabout. A ‘splash’ from the fish’s tail is frozen into a vitreous sculpture. Bronze leaves are positioned as if floating on the granite surface, and water flowing over glass ‘dew drops’ enhances this poetic new space.
